Came here after reading yelp reviews. We were seated right away and ordered the combo ab and tonkatsu meal. The wait time was longgg. Waited around 37 minutes until the food came around. Combo was small portions but tonkatsu was plentiful. Wouldn't come here again due to the wait time.
Awesome fast service and delicious foods too! Celebrated my birthday and anniversary for lunch today, so glad we had it at Kunio's Waikele! Well worth it, thank you!
Good food at reasonable prices. It gets crowded as seating is limited. If you're willing to forego atmosphere I'd suggest taking your order to go. You'll get everything with teishoku meals, including miso soup, salad and tsukemono (pickled vegetables). Since the salad is packed separate from the main dish, cold items stay cold and hot items stay hot! With take-out, you don't even have to do dishes!
Had dinner with my son. I ALWAYS get the same thing. Miso butterfish and mix tempura. AWESOME!!!
We have eaten at Kunio's in Waikele several times and we always had great food and good service. But today seems to be the exception. The service was terrible, the servers were mean and the food wasn't up to the standard we expect and receive. We ordered steak and lobster and the lobster was overcooked and rubbery. We spent almost $200. dollars for lunch and the server was scolding us for putting our purses almost close to the next booth that is unoccupied. Well, this is the last time we are patronizing this restaurant. No wonder the restaurant looks empty. With this kind of service and food, nobody would want to do a repeat. We certainly won't.
