Bad service. Empty bar the last 3 times we went there. Waste of time & money.
Hated it very much. Drinks were gross, staff was gross ripped you off , it smelled. Was absolutely terrible and we even brought alot of people with us. We were embarrassed that we took them to that dump hole
I went alone, ordered a Coke, gave the bartender lady $20, and got $17 back. I gave her a $2 tip. Another lady (the owner, I heard someone say??) saw. This is usual for me when I go into new bars; try to foster a positive reputation with the staff. Unfortunately, as a black man in an unfamiliar situation, this is not only important, but necessary. I digress. So, I'm feeling that everything is cool. A group of guys started karaoke. They put in a bunch of songs and I was content to listen to them (and support them by clapping -- also important for fostering positive vibes) while I searched for songs in the book. I finally found 4 that I wanted to sing. Since the group of guys had put in multiple songs at one time, why wouldn't that be okay for me, too? So that's what I did. I gave the bartender lady my songs. I meticulously write the number of my song selection, the title of the song and the singer) I gave a $5 bill, and she gave me $1 back because each song costs $1. A couple of times, the bartender kept giving me the microphone, thinking that it was my turn. Each time, myself and the other guys let her know that it was not. By the time the other guys finished singing, they left. The first song that was "supposed" to be mine was actually a song that I did not put in. It could've been the other guys' or it could've been that the ladies entered my song number wrong. That was strike one, but I was ok with that, as long as I still had the opportunity to sing all the songs I paid for. I informed the lady that it was not my song. She didn't do anything except let the song play to the end. By the time this current song was on the screen, I only saw 2 more songs in the line-up on the screen. I should've said something then. The next song played and it was one of mine. By this time, though, I was a bit frustrated and only half-sang the song. The second song played and, again, it was one of mine. It was much higher in pitch than it should have been, though. I would have asked them to adjust the pitch, but they were occupied by other things. Plus by this time, I could tell that they didn't speak English very well and I got the sense that they weren't very adept at using the karaoke machine. Fine. I half-sang this song again (resolved to not weaken my voice by singing a song I knew was too high for me). When it was over, no other songs appeared on the screen. This means that out of the 4 songs I paid for, I only had the opportunity to sing 2 of them. So I informed the lady (the owner??/not the bartender) who was working the karaoke machine. She did not have all four of the slips that I wrote my song requests on. When I reiterated that I paid for 4 songs, but only saw 2 of them, she insisted that she played 4 songs (she didn't even say "your songs", just "4 songs" -- regardless of whether they were mine or not??) So, I told her to let me show her in the book which songs did not play. I quickly found one in the book, pointed to it, and without actually looking at the book, she scoffed at me and looked away, dismissing my concern. I was very livid at this point, torn between two decisions; one, showing this older lady the same lack of respect shown to me, possibly angering local/regular customers (by whom I was outnumbered) who might be inclined to come to her defense (verbally or physically) whether they knew if she were right or wrong and two, walking away from the situation, having let this lady walk all over me, all while she REFUSED to listen to my reason. $2 for karaoke songs may seem like a trivial thing to get upset about, but what it comes down to is that I paid for a service that I did not receive. In fact, it was adamantly denied me. In those situations, if it were to get ugly, it would be her word against mine. Who are police going to hear out, the little, "defenseless", old Asian (Korean, to be exact) woman, or the big, angry, "menacing" black man? I tried to avoid race, but this is sadly the state of things. I'm not privileged to be able to ignore it as a factor. I digress. My 1st experience here left a bad taste.
Great local place with a cozy feel. I had kalbi steak and fried chicken, it was some of the best I ever had. The bartender was quick and friendly and the regulars made us feel at home. The only negative is the bar is a bit dated and dark
