Second, this office no longer has a dedicated telephone line. All phone calls are answered at the main Honolulu office (which I can never get someone to answer).

Conclusion: One, don’t be nervous. Be respectful, the decision to cut back on the number of workers was made by someone at the main office - not the people working at the counter. Two, if lines are longs - maybe return late afternoons.

This office is now a satellite office. What does that mean? Two things:

Not only is this state Unemployment office understaffed, it appears the staff is overworked and or just callous to those who are assigned to the Waipahu branch. Aside from call being forward to the Honolulu office, the building is poorly maintained.

I called at least 50 times and NEVER got anyone on the phone for an update. I emailed at least 4 or 5 times and NO ONE responded. I went into the office and the lady tells me, "you can contact us via (email or by phone) too and continues to show me the number and write down the email address. I told her I have been but no one ever responded....E.V.E.R! she half apologized and smiled.......uhhh............WHAT!?!?!????

They never answer the phone. These folks are here to help the people who need benefits in between finding jobs. Need to upgrade service.

First, over 90% of the people who used to work at the office, now work at the main office in Honolulu. There are only two or three people working the counter to answer questions. Certain inquires will be passed to the main office in Honolulu.

Only took me 38 trys till somebody answered

All changes aside, the few people behind the counter do a great job answering everyone's questions. The process is simple. If this is your first time, do not be nervous. Walk inside, grab a number. Sign-in at the clipboard where you grab your number. Then wait your turn. The waiting area inside is small, you can wait outside. Be warned: If you wait outside, it is up to you to keep track of what number the counter workers are on. There is no number display outside. Most busy days per my observation: Mornings (everyday) especially Monday and Friday. Best times: afternoons.
